If your a first time buyer looking for your new home and your not sure where to start, dont worry! Our simple guide below gives our 6 top tips on how to start your house hunting journey.

Step 1 – What is your dreamn home?

List the criteria you are looking for in a new home.  Things like location, schools, style of property etc. everything that’s important to you. Don’t leave anything out just yet!

Step 2 – Rank your shortlist

Prioritise that list from most important to least – if your buying together make sure you both agree on the prioritisation.

Step 3 – Start your research

Search the property sites such as rightmove & start booking viewings & do your research!  Go to Zoopla and look for similar properties and what they have sold for recently.

Step 4 – Do you qualify for shared ownership or help to buy?

Consider any developments in your desired locations, you may be able to get help with buying from schemes such as Help to Buy or Shared Ownership.

Step 5 – Ask a lot of questions

Talk to the estate agents, ask them questions about the property see its listed in multiple agencies.

Step 6 – Check, check and check again!

Don’t just jump in and make an offer – once you have found somewhere you like go and look at the nearby facilities – see what the area is like at peak and off peak times!
